Micro Machining occurs in many different types of materials such as: Titanium, Medical grade Stainless Steels, MP35, Peek, and many more. Often times our micro machined parts or the parts features are only a few thousandths in size and we have to hold tolerances in the 10 thousandths of an inch to meet the customers’ requirements.
Minimally Invasive surgeries are the best approach for the patient and controlling medical costs. To achieve these incredible types of surgeries we must be able to produce very small parts for the devices used in the surgeries.
Once micro machined, some of the parts are so small the only way to inspect them is to use a vision system since contacting the surface with traditional gauges proves to be impossible.
In the medical markets micro-parts have changed how surgeries are performed and how patients recover. Patients’ years ago would have had to stay in the hospital for weeks to recover from a major surgery now they can go home the next day or even same day. The challenge has been for manufacturers to produce products consistently and precisely even-though the part might look like a grain of rice to the naked eye. C-Axis jumped at the challenge to work with such difficult small parts or parts with difficult small details and has over a decade experience working with micro parts.
Tolerances in the 10 thousandth of an inch are often the norm for Micro parts and measurements of such small details require non-contact methods. At C-Axis we have microscopes throughout our facilities and at all work stations, as well as multiple optical comparators, and two different vision systems.
